American Susannah Scaroni was forced to pull to the side of the street in Natick and pull out her tools during Monday's 127th Boston Marathon.

Commentators feared she might need to change a wheel but later realized she had pulled out her tool kit to tighten an axle.

In addition to the issue with her chair, squeaking sounds also indicated that her gloves were slipping on the wheels because of the day's wet weather.

Scaroni, the second-place finisher in last year's marathon, was leading the race at the time she was forced to pull over. She tightened the axle and restarted her race.

"So happy I had an Allen key," she said after the race.

Despite the delay, Scaroni went on to win her first Boston Marathon with a final time of 01:41:45.
