A Sydney based transport company has made the decision to step away from heavy haulage, with 11 prime movers and their associated trailers now going under the hammer.

Menai Haulage has been owned and managed by Lee Fahey since 2002. It operates a large range of specialist plant and equipment, delivering civil construction services and expertise to the Sydney area and beyond.

Fahey says the company's recent strategic decision to steer away from the heavy haulage industry called for a realignment of its existing fleet.

Ritchie Bros., the world's largest industrial auctioneer, has been chosen to manage the fleet dispersal. The Menai Haulage assets will feature in Ritchie Bros. first National Unreserved Auction of the year on 22 February.

The online auction will provide buyers in the region with a unique opportunity to purchase high-quality, late model machinery on their doorstep.

"With its market-leading expertise, and now a state-of-the-art depot available in the region, Ritchie Bros. was the obvious choice to assist us with this dispersal. We are delighted to be working alongside them," Fahey said.

This news coincides with the launch of Ritchie Bros. newest depot yard in Newcastle, comprising a 9000m2 state-of-the-art facility, providing world-class equipment solutions to the Hunter Region.

Ritchie Bros. says the Newcastle yard is strategically located to better serve the local market, including the construction, agricultural and transportation industries.

The new facility will be used to host online auctions, giving buyers the flexibility to bid on equipment from anywhere in the world.

Ritchie Bros. regional sales manager, Simon Ward, said the company was dedicated to providing its customers with convenience and the best possible experience.

"We are thrilled to launch our new depot yard and bring our world-class equipment solutions to the doorstep of our customers in the Hunter Region," Ward said.

Interested buyers are urged to register to bid, with bidding opening on Saturday, February 18. Day one of the auction (February 22) will be dedicated to construction and crushing gear, while day two (February 23) will focus on transportation and agricultural assets.
