The next stage of a renewal for the Iveco brand sees a launch introducing a rugged off-road range, the T-Way. These new trucks are a replacement for the former Trakker model.

Recently exhibited at the Brisbane Truck Show, T-Way is designed to meet the rigours of the toughest off-road applications such as mining and exploration, forestry work, water cartage, agricultural spreading and tipper work.

The new trucks are fitted with the latest Euro 6 (Step E) engine range from Iveco, as well as introducing improved levels of comfort and a new cabin look following styling cues from the road going S-Way range.

The new range includes 4×4, 6×6 and 8×4 configurations at 20,500kg GVM/44,000kg GCM, 33,500kg GVM/60,000kg GCM and 41,000kg GVM/60,000kg GCM. There is also a choice of four wheelbases, ranging from 3800mm to 5820mm.

Euro6 Step E engine range

There are four Euro6 (Step E) engines available. Standard in the T-Way AD 4×4 is the Iveco Cursor 9, a 6-cylinder engine producing 360hp (265kW) and torque of 1,650Nm at 925rpm. There is an optional Euro6 Cursor 13 with its 12.9l displacement available at 410hp (302kW) and 2,100Nm of torque at 1,000rpm.

The T-Way AD 6×6 model, gets the Cursor 13 rated at 450hp (331kW) and 2,200Nm of torque at 870 rpm, while in the dual steer T-Way AD 8×4, the Cursor 13 produces 510hp (375kW) and 2,300Nm of torque from 900rpm.

Iveco's SCR only engine design, is fitted with the Hi-eSCR after-treatment which uses a Diesel Oxydation Catalyst, Diesel Particulate Filter, SCR and Clean Up Catalyst.

Transmission

The Hi-Tronix AMT is specified in T-Way. The 12-speed is offered in the AD 4×4 or, with the optional larger 410hp engine, the 16-speed Hi-Tronix AMT. The 16-speed Hi-Tronix is standard on AD 6×6 and 8×4 models.

Offroad features

T-Way features full-time drive systems in 4×4 and 6×6 variants, with drive to the rear axles in the 8×4 variant. All vehicles are also equipped with hub reduction to all drive axles and front, centre and rear differential locks. There's a two-speed transfer case.

The trucks achieve a 33° approach angle, while minimum front and rear ground clearance is 346mm and 284mm respectively with standard tyres. There's a multi-piece steel front bumper (each component can be replaced individually if damaged) with foldable step and headlight protection grid.

Inside the cabin there's a new 7" LCD HD touch screen display Infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, smart phone mirroring, voice recognition and in-built satellite navigation by TomTom. The unit is also reverse and side camera compatible.

Additionally, there's twilight and rain sensors that automatically turn on the headlamps and windscreen wipers, and new integrated heating, ventilation and air conditioning system with ‘Eco-mode’.
