IONIA COUNTY, MI – One woman was hospitalized following a crash after she crashed into the rear end of a semi truck, Ionia County sheriff's deputies said.

The crash was reported around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, on Belding Road in Ionia County's Otisco Township.

Police said a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe veered into the rear of a semi truck that was hauling a large box trailer. The crash also caused the axle assembly to fall off the box trailer.

The driver of the truck, a 35-year-old Holland man, was not injured in the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 43-year-old Ada woman, was transported to an area hospital but is currently recovering at home, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
